Recently I have been able to learn how incredibly important art and culture are for people.
Without a doubt: we need a scientific understanding of the world in order to solve problems.
We need engineers who can determine exactly how wide and thick a bridge needs to be to hold it, how thick the walls of a house need to be to keep it from falling over, and how much water and nutrients plants need to thrive .
But we also need people who can teach others to dance, people who can respond empathetically and sensitively to other people's needs/fears/concerns, and people who spread fun, joy and peace of mind.
It is the joy of learning, the playful element of challenges, the curious interest in how things work, which leads people to develop creative combinations, create new things and thereby further develop themselves and their environment.
Through art, people's feelings can be conveyed and others can be touched and inspired.
Art can help to express political statements or highlight grievances.
Art can appear in a variety of shapes, colors and expressions. In dance, creative painting, drawing, baking, soldering, crafting, gardening, building snow sculptures or singing.
And art can also just be beautiful.
That's why I don't want to live in a world without art.
Und als großartiges Beispiel, was mit Kunst gemacht werden kann, kann ich auf Ubermorgen verweisen.
