4 things that amazed me (2)

1. Electronic music

I am amazed every time anew how I get into the flow state through electronic music, forget everything around me and completely sink into the moment.

Basically I translated all the TROM books with electronic music in the background. At some point I created a Soundcloud account and have been listening to all sorts of sets since then. Electronic music is very diverse, it goes from very slow to extremely fast, whereby I prefer to listen to deephouse, slowhouse and downtempo, but then also to techno, melodic techno and progressive house.

Some of them can't do anything with electronic music and that's okay, of course, but somehow I really like them.

Here are 3 tracks that I would like to share because I think they are really nice - but of course there are 1000 others that I also like 😉

Joep Mencke – Trust The Wild
Victor Norman – Hymn (Bernstein Remix)
Rampue- Stop Thinking (Katerblau Live)

2. That there are billions of people out there who do things without asking for anything in return and you will never hear from them.

Every day there are so many people who do things voluntarily. Be it doing the shopping for the neighbors or the grandparents, writing code, donating money, saving food, sharing knowledge or helping people in whatever way.

We also have one a book about it and it's crazy how pretty much everything in our society is measured primarily in terms of money and volunteering is not viewed that way.

3. That human behavior is very copy & paste.

It might sound funny, but it's true. I'll use myself as an example: I grew up in a small village where there is a football club. My dad played there, so I started playing football when I was a little kid. My dad always watched the sports show, so I watched the sports show too. Friends played tennis, so I took up tennis too. I read on blogs that a lot of people travel, so after I graduate from high school I set off with my backpack. And so forth.

Think about traditional festivals / events - Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Oktoberfest, Mardi Gras / Carnival, go drinking. But also wear AirPods, have the latest Nike shoes, take photos of the food on Instagram, watch dance videos on TikTok and then dance yourself - copy & paste.

Kind of amazing. Of course, not everything is taken over by everyone and of course such habits change over time, but I still find it amazing!

It's no different for me either 🙂

That brings me to the next point:

4. Social change

It is obvious that the world is in the midst of a radical change.

Investing money in renewable energies, buying an electric car, eating less meat ... These are all well-intentioned ideas, but if the basic structure of our society is the problem then we need to focus on that. We're talking about human behavior here and that always seems to be something that isn't talked about. How about if we create a more sensible environment for people where they are no longer stressed and have more free time?

How about trade-free food, trade-free medical care, trade-free access to public transport and trade-free access to accommodation? Sometimes these are progressive ideas that really improve people's lives. But not that fucking Metaverse from Facebook
